The Equip Series - Day 17- Make The People Sit Down

The Equip Series Day 17 Make The People Sit Down

This “Equip” is about common sense. When speaking to someone you want to make sure they are listening!

This applies not only speaking to Jewish people but to anyone.

I was astounded when I heard what follows, for the first time:
“Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not. (Ezekiel 12:12)

Paul quotes this scripture describing the unbelieving Jewish people of his day:
as it is written, “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that should not see and ears that should not hear, down to this very day.” (Romans 11:8)

In Ecclesiastes it says, “There is nothing new under the sun.” What was true then is true today.
A spirit of “stupor” means just what it sounds like… stupid; when it comes to spiritual things!
Some have no ability to receive spiritual truth.

Although you are transmitting truth they have no antenna to receive it!
The sooner you find out if this applies to the person you are speaking to, the better.
The good news is there is a “remnant” out there, that has ears to hear!

It is our task to find them; to seek for them and save them.
The Emphasis here is on “seek.”

In an earlier session of The Equip I taught how only those drawn to Yeshua by the Father can come to him and receive salvation.

How can we discern if the person we are speaking with is drawn to Yeshua and has ears to hear?
Yeshua as always provides the answer!

There are numerous ways to describe soul winning in a figurative sense.
Fishing for men, Wielding the sword of the spirit, sowing seeds, and in this case feeding individuals or multitudes.

Here is the key, before taking 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish and feeding the 5 thousand:
Yeshua said, “Make the people sit down. (John 6:10)

We don’t want to ignore his instruction.

Before “feeding” your hearer with the bread of life, make sure he is “sitting down” so he can receive the word of God and be fed.

Yeshua said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he will live for ever…(John 6:51)

As you communicate the gospel, the words that come out of your mouth, can rescue the person you are speaking to from darkness and bring him into the eternal light of God’s presence. What an opportunity!
