The following is a foundational scripture concerning evangelism.
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44)
These words of Yeshua are immensely helpful. As you fish for men, it is crucial to realize the only “fish” you will ever catch are the ones who are drawn to Yeshua by the Father!
This includes fish who are either Jewish or gentile.
This means that an effective fisher of men is always on the lookout for those who are, being drawn to Yeshua.
In other words those who are being drawn by the Father are looking for Yeshua although they don’t know it!
I have actually gone into the streets and have approached people asking them, “Are you drawn?” Their reply of course is, “What are you talking about?” I reply, “I’m so glad you asked!” “I am looking for people who are being drawn to Jesus or Yeshua (depending who I am talking to) by God the Father.
Do you ever think about God or wonder if there is a God and have a desire to know the answers to the deep questions about life?”
You have no idea how many deep conversations I have had with perfect strangers that begin this way!
And through their answer I am able to discern if this person is indeed being drawn to Yeshua by the Father!
If they show no interest in the topic then I know that at this time that this person is not being drawn to Yeshua by the Father so I move on!
When we are seeking to save the lost we cannot afford to waste time!
Preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, and exhort, be unfailing in patience and in teaching. (2 Timothy 4:2)
Remember NO ONE can be saved/born of the spirit UNLESS the Father is DRAWING this person to Yeshua. Our job is to discern if the person we are speaking with is in the process of being drawn to Yeshua. If the person you are speaking with is truly interested in what you are sharing and you can tell he has a desire to know the truth you can be assured he is being drawn!
You have a fish on the line!
